#36 SNOOPY

I took a small poll to see who was a favourite dog from childhood & Snoopy was a clear favourite! So I had to include him to round out some of the recent "dogs of the 80's" paintings. Who doesn't love Snoopy!

SOLD!
#35 POUND PUPPY

I wanted to include more little dogs into this project and thought that these little stuffed animals would fit right in. Did you adopt a Pound Puppy in the 80's? I had one that looked similar to this & they arrived in cute little dog house packaging.

#34 FP DOG

This dog from the beloved Fisher-Price character collection is a favourite of mine and has been on the list since the beginning! He was also available with a yellow collar I believe, yet love the red. I could honestly paint every vintage toy from Fisher-Price to be part of this collection! but will try to limit myself!! Which was your favourite FP "character"?

#33 MR. MUGS

Meet Mr. Mugs! I have fond memories of these childhood books featuring this lovable sheepdog. Everytime I see an English sheepdog on the street I think of Mr. Mugs so I had to include him in this project. Book titles such as: Meet Mr. Mugs, Mr. Mugs at School & Mr. Mugs a Jet Pet were Canadian readers for elementary children in the 70's & early 80's. This would be such a fun, nostalgic collection to work on!

#30 HOT WHEELS TOY CAR

I now know that Hot Wheels, Matchbox, dinky cars are a big part of a little boy`s life so I had to include one in this project. There are so many styles to choose from but I thought that this type of Corvette would reflect a boy`s toy from the 80`s.

This little piece of plastic is a great symbol of music`s history and thought that it should be included as most of us grew up with records! and may even still have a collection in the house.

I had to include these awesome barrettes even though I believe the styles are still being sold today. They bring back great memories for most women I know & they were likely their 1st fashion accessory!

#23 LITE BRITE

Fun creative toy from the 80's that is still for sale today although now its cordless but the concept of pushing the coloured pegs through the paper to make your glowing design is the same. Decided to do a heart image although a rainbow was a close 2nd option - but I'm saving that for something else!

#22 TINKERTOYS

How could I not include this classic wooden building toy! I have great memories of Tinkertoys with the coloured wooden rods and round wheels (spools) offering endless design possibilites. Did you know that Tinkertoys were invented in 1913 by Charles Pajeau, who was inspired by children playing with pencils and empty spools of thread?

#21 FRIENDSHIP PINS

A fashion accessory from elementary school and maybe even high school (?) - making and trading colourful beads on safety pins was a way to say 'hey, we're friends' and to decorate your jean jacket or backpack. As far as I know only girls did this... please correct me if I'm wrong. I think people had their signature colours/patterns but did the colours stand for anything? Has this awesome fashion accessory found its way to the pre teens today...?

#19 BROWNIE BADGES: ARTIST, NUTRITION & FRIEND TO BIRDS

Were you a Brownie? I was (a Sprite) and I remember a highlight was doing all the tasks/activities/etc. required to earn these wonderful badges! I remember having a sash and armful! There are so many designs to choose from for this project, so I narrowed it down to 6 - even though I could do another painting with badges along a bit of a winter theme. If you were a Brownie, what are some of your favourite memories?

#18 LEGO MINI FIGURE

Ok, after a bit of a break (oops), I'm back at this project! with a little Lego mini figure. I know that this 80's toy is still going strong today but its totally different now and seems more character/theme based than just the plain characters & building bricks that we had to create with. Still love Lego though - how about you?
