How could I not include this classic wooden building toy! I have great memories of Tinkertoys with the coloured wooden rods and round wheels (spools) offering endless design possibilites. Did you know that Tinkertoys were invented in 1913 by Charles Pajeau, who was inspired by children playing with pencils and empty
spools of thread?
